Tattooing has long been a part of Kingston’s cultural landscape; from the classic street shops to today’s private custom studios. Kingston, Ontario is a vibrant waterfront city, with an engaged community of tattoo enthusiasts, artisans, students, military personnel and patrons of art and culture – making it the ideal backdrop for the Limestone City Tattoo and Arts Festival. We are proud of our home, and want to give artists and patrons alike the opportunity to experience what our city has to offer. The 2nd annual Limestone City Tattoo and Arts Festival will be held on September 16th and 17th, 2017 at the Four Points by Sheraton, steps away from Lake Ontario in beautiful downtown Kingston. The festival itself will be an intimate event featuring 40 tattoo artists representing Canada, the USA and beyond. As there is limited space, the attending artists have been personally invited by the show creators. Each artist will bring a different style and flavour of tattooing to the convention, making for an eclectic group of artists, all available to create personalized tattoos for those hoping to acquire some unique body-art. There will be a variety of vendors as well, offering artwork and tattoo culture-related products for purchase during the weekend. The convention will include two days of tattooing open to the public accompanied by organized events, entertainment and after-show parties for artists and patrons alike.

Q: What is a tattoo and arts festival ?

A: A tattoo and arts festival/convention is an event that showcases and celebrates all things tattoo culture-related.  It’s a gathering of tattoo artists from various cities and countries who set up shop in a convention-style setting which is open to the public. Tattoo conventions invite anyone young and old, tattooed or not tattooed, to attend.

As a patron of the Limestone City Tattoo and Arts Festival, you can get tattooed on site, browse or purchase artist prints and original artwork, find tattoo-related merchandise and knick-knacks, or just browse and take in the sights and sounds of the culture.

Please note, you must be at least 18 years old to get tattooed at the Limestone City Tattoo & Arts Festival.

Q: Can I get tattooed at the convention?

A: The simple answer is yes! A tattoo convention centres around the public being   able to get tattooed onsite in a clean, safe and professional atmosphere.  Although local artists are usually in attendance representing hometown talent, a convention also gives the public the opportunity to meet and be tattooed by a number of non-local artists who would be otherwise inaccessible without travelling to another city or country.

Please note, you must be at least 18 years old to get tattooed at the Limestone City Tattoo & Arts Festival.

Q: How can I make an appointment to get tattooed?

A: If you would like to get tattooed at the Limestone City Tattoo and Arts Festival, contacting the artist directly, ahead of time, is your best bet.  All confirmed attending artists are listed on the festival website in the “Attending Artists” section, with their contact information (artists are constantly being added to the list, so check back often).

Once you’ve selected your preferred artist, contact them via e-mail, through their website, or by phone and ask about making an appointment during the Limestone City Tattoo and Arts Festival.  When you contact the artist, be prepared to provide some brief details about your tattoo ideas and what your preferred date and time would be. The artist will then let you know if it’s a go, and you can also ask them other tattoo-related questions at this time.

Q: Can I get tattooed at the convention without booking an appointment?

A: Getting tattooed at a convention doesn’t always require making an appointment in advance, although it helps.  If you are interested in getting tattooed by a specific artist at the convention, we recommend trying to contact them beforehand to ensure that you are able to secure a spot with him/her.

However, there are some tattoo artists who may want to work the convention on a first-come first-serve basis. If this is the case, you can show up at the convention at your convenience; and, if you find an artist at the convention who you would like to get tattooed by, all you have to do is ask them if they have any openings.  If an artist has time available to tattoo you, then you’re in luck, and starting a dialogue about what you would like tattooed is the next step.

Q: How can I purchase tickets for the convention?

A: Tickets will be made available for sale through the festival website. Alternately, you can buy day passes or weekend passes at the door.

Q: Can I bring my kids?

A: Absolutely! The Limestone City Tattoo And Arts Festival is a family-friendly environment and we encourage all age groups to attend. Plus, passes are free for kids under 10 when accompanied by an adult.

Q: Will there be events happening in conjunction with the festival?

A: A full itinerary of events will be available on the festival website, and will be updated regularly with any changes or additions.  The Limestone City Tattoo and Arts Festival will have nightly events planned at many of Kingston’s local venues with live entertainment, and gives patrons the opportunity to mingle with attending artists outside of the festival itself.

Each artist attending the Limestone City Tattoo and Arts Festival has been hand-selected by the organizers in the interest of providing a variety of styles and personalities for patrons to choose from.  Each artist will have a booth space and will be available to tattoo attendees over the course of the weekend.  Artists will also be selling artwork, merchandise and tattoo-related products.

Artists may choose to pre-book their tattoo appointments prior to the convention weekend, or take walk-up appointments during the weekend of the convention.   If you find an artist you would like to be tattooed by, contact them directly to possibly set up your appointment prior to the convention.
